Resonator questions
I have a 2007 Dodge Ram and have read the 2008 Rams did not have the front resonator.
I'm looking to have a shop remove either the front or rear resonator and was wondering the influences on sound each might have ?

Just removing one or both of the resoantors with the stock muffler isn't going to do much. Best bet is o get an aftermarket muffler and remove the rear one. You'll want to keep one of them with an aftermarket muffler because the MDS will be bothersome if you don't. It causes a flutter in the exhaust and one resonator helps make this very subtle.
muffler shop i went to said removing the one closest to the tail pipe would make the biggest difference. when he installed my at 3030 i left both on wasnt sure how it would sound with the mds. after about a week i went back and had the rear resonator removed made a huge difference in sound .
When I initially put on my Magnaflow cat-back I left the front resonator on. It was a nice improvement in exhaust note, but when I put in the Magnaflow y-pipe I ditched the front one as well. It did make it louder, and the MDS is slightly more noticeable, but I like the deeper and slightly louder exhaust. With the magnaflow cat back using such a large muffler (22-24" I think) i was not too concerned with it being overly loud.

You guys are comparing aftermarket exhaust with removing resonators. I think OP was talking about keeping the stock muffler but ditching a resonator or 2 which WON'T make enough difference to be worthwhile on a stock muffler. Aftermarket exhaust is un-comparable just as you guys have stated they make a big difference at that point.
Fav, you looking to keep or ditch the stock muffler? If it was me and I had 2 resonators, I would keep both of them and straight pipe the muffler. You WILL pass NYS inspection. I passed 4 years at 3 diff places with my GM that was done like that. As long as there are no leaks in front of the cats, you will pass. truck will sound clean with 2 resonators and have a nice rumble to it and only cost you $6 for the tubing.

I purchased a Volant 304 SS cat back for a Mega Cab. It is still sitting in my possession. I have thought about selling it as is (un cut). I have a Quad Cab and was going to have a muffler shop make it fit with minor tweaks. Guy said it would be loud with no rear resonator and the straight thru exhaust. Started to second thought putting it on.
I hate the fact that my Hemi is quieter than my Chevy was stock. Yet I don't want too much noise or droning.
Just did a long trip with a 4500lb trailer and was happy I didn't have a loud exhaust.
FYI I also have a Volant CAI that I used for 1500 miles. Too loud. I liked it on my Chevy, but these Hemi's seem louder......with the Hemi hat on too.
