Default Standard cab stereo...any suggestions?

Ok, I think its time go give the ram some thump.
I am basically looking at a whole new system, head unit, speakers, amp, and one or two subs. I need the subs and amp to fit behind the seats, the subs definately, I might be able to relocate the amp under one of the seats. Anywho, which brand of headunit/amp/sub do you suggest. I dont want pure thump, I'd still like to be able to hear the music, but with some good bass behind it.
So, who'se the music buff?

one thing i recomend.. do not go to best buy, or similar stores.. go to a TRUE Car Audio Store.. for best results.

and yes .. i am a alright-music-buff

JVC.. deck these have always been nice looking and reliable for me. also Hrm.. Eclipse produce some awsome decks too but those are for "ultimate" sound quality.

i saw this deck... and i like it alot.. and yes.. it fits in a normal cd deck space..

http://www.jvc.com/product.jsp?model...thId=58&page=1

alpine decks disgust me.. blocky..

for components.. go FOCAL. trust me these rock. sound really nice. but they are from over seas and some stores might not have them..

i want these, these are super nice. crisp clean loud..

http://www.focal.tm.fr/car/en/k2power/index.htm 165KP. i have the 130's trust me they rock.

now for the bump..

all i can say if u want deep clear bass... go kicker, amp and subs.

now depending how much bump u want i suggest u go 2 subs 1 amp.

now for you since u have red truck.. u might as well color match your subs..

KICKER L5 12" subs would fit nicly right behind you.

S12L5 is the model number. and get DUAL 4 ohm subs. each sub is 600 watts. and each sub will sound like 2 15's cuz its square design.

now for the amp(s)

For The Components.. hrm this is my amp that i use to power my components. http://www.eclipse-web.com/amp/ea3422.html it is very nice and works very good. i recomend this amp.

now for the subs ..

KX1200.1 kicker amp. 1200 watts @ 1 ohm, and if u calculate everything right. dual 4ohms x 2 subs = 1 ohms.

or .. you could go 2 KX600.1 amp and wire each one to one. and still be in the right.

that shud be nice and loud and bump-o-licious.

YES DO STAY AWAY FROM BEST BUY, ETC. If you can buy a washer in the same store your looking at car audio in, get the washer and leave the audio.

for a deck i swear by eclipse, ive tried other brands and will NEVER go with anything but eclipse for a head unit. for amps and subs i prefer JL audio. they make great products, excellent sound and very loud if you want them to be. kicker is also good, i recently installed a 10" eclipse sub (for a good deal) in my truck and it sounds very good, very tight bass. i have a JL 500/1 amp which seems to be to much amp for just the one sub. you probably shouldnt go bigger then a 10" sub. the bass will be much tighter and more clear with a smaller sub. hope this helps.

well from my experiences.. JL dosent hit the low's quuiet as good as JL but JL does make good products.. if u just want normal bass go JL if u want deep stuff that makes ur insides feel like they are being hit up on by sexy girls in bikinis on a massage table get kicker . its between kicker / jl btw JL is effin expensive..

also look around like on sites like cardomain and stuff.. you cna get inspiration and stuff from there.

These guys obviously know what they're talking about, but I'm a little more reserved in my opinions about car audio. The setups these guys are talking about are really expensive. Personally, I would go with a Pioneer Premier head unit, and a Phoenix Gold amplifier, along with some MA Audio subs.

Head unit something like this;
http://pioneerelectronics.ca/pna/pro...592332,00.html

Amp something like this;
http://www.phoenixgold.com/2004/octane-ramps.html

Subs something like this;

As far as speakers are concerned, the focals are amazing but cost wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much for me to buy them. Maybe if you could get them online at ebay or something for cheap. Personally I'm happy with Pioneer speakers amped.

And Ignore MSRP, we all know it doesn't mean ****. That head unit could probably be purchased for $300, the amp for $400, and the subs for $100 each.

Edit: Canadian dollars.

My friend was showing me the square Kicker Subs, and also suggested their amp to go alont with it.

Assuming I go that route, do you have suggestions on where to get a nice box to put a sub in? I really like the space behind my seat, and dont want the stereo taking it ALL up...I could do like half of it, split either way.

Does it matter which way the subs face (front or back)? I'm thinking of maybe getting 2 10" Kickers, and mounting them on both sides of the cab behind the seat. That SHOULD give me some space between the seats to put the stuff I need back there, and I could probably relocate the amp under the seat. Would you have any reasons not to do it this way?

http://www.carstereopro.com/qlogic/dodge_ram_quad.htm This is a custom, under the seat, dual, 10" sub enclosure. You can put any subs in there.

As for speakers; go to high end audio stores and listen to all of the speakers. Try 2 and 3 way speakers as well as separate components. Choose what sounds best to you and what fits your budget. Pretty much anything sold by high end stores will be 100x better than stock.

With regards to decks (headunits), I have always used Alpine. I find that Alpine and Eclipse have the best sound reproduction with a good amount of extras. Other units like Kenwood/Pioneer/Panasonic have lots of extras but not as clear music reproduction. 95% of people can't ell the difference between $100 units and $500 units. It all depends what you can spend and what your looking for. I will say, try to find a headunit that has an auxillary input (for MP3 players like IPods or Zen Micros) aslo ones that read MP3 CDs.

Personally, I have an Alpine 9835 headunit which drives my Infinity reference 6.5 inch components in the front and Infinity 6x9 Infinity Reference in the rear. I run dual JL Audio 10" W0s in a HO box powered by a 2x250 watt amp. It was relativly inexpensive and it sounds great, just right for my tates.

All in all, choose what sounds best to you and what you can afford.
