Default biggest tire that will fit?

i have a 2008 dodge ram 1500 sxt but i have a 6" pro comp lift in it. i was wondering what the biggest tire i can go with on a 17" rim.

6" lift??? I would think atleast a 38x12.5

max isnt height its width, and 12.5 is pushing it on a 9.5 rim, but for gearing and rubbing sake ide go 35"x12.5

i would go 37s or maybe 38's, if 35s can fit with just a level and a lil bit or rub u can clear those tire sizes easy as long as ur rims have the right backspacing....my tire is 12.1" wide on a 8" wide rim and have been in some ruts and deep holes in the mountians with no problems, but its better to go with a wider rim like 9'-10" width...

yeah you can put wide tires on skinny rims they wont explode or anything they just wear in the center instead of evenly,

back spacing and tire width is everything. I have 20" rockstars with 35x12.50 nitto trail grapplers with my 6" BDS lift and i rubbed when trying to turn all the way. We had to trim up the inside of the fender liners and unless i hit a rut or bump really hard i clear fine now.
