Hey guys I'm in the process of raising my truck back up a little. I bought it with a 2/4 drop on it but the guy I bought it off of didn't do the drop so he didn't know if they used coils or spindles. So I got some stock coils from a salvage yard and pulled mine but they are the same length. Are they supposed to be? I went ahead and installed the new coils and it might have raised it an inch but not 2. So I don't know if my old springs were just a little worn out or if they used spindles. How can I check if they are drop spindles on an '03? I went ahead and left the drop shocks(Belltech drop 1-3") for now so that may be holding it down some but I wouldn't think so.

 

are you wanting to take the drop off? Where are you located?

 

Yes, I'm wanting it back to stock height and then maybe just level the back cause I do a lot of hauling. I'm in southern OK. I also swapped out the leaf springs since the originals had the overload removed and put the spring back on top of the axle and now the rear is about 6" higher than the front.

 

stock coils should be higher as drop coils are lower and are progressive rate which means they get stiffer the more they are compressed. Stock coils should sit higher, give more cushion and compress a little easier.
Now, I haven't compared Ram coils or any truck coil for that matter, but I have done a lot of suspension work on cars and that is how they all are. Shocks won't "hold" it down, but they willtop out going over bumps and your likely to blow the seals on them.
