Wheel spacers?
I love the look of spaced wheels on a ram... but is there a downside to doing it? Plus for a 3" spacing i got an estimate of $640 ... yikes thats a bit out of the ballpark for me at the moment.
Anyone have experience spacing? or know enough about it to inform me?
thanks!

3" wheel spacers is a baaaaaaad idea. Just not something you should be doing. You need to buy properly backspaced wheels if you wanna go that far offset.
Beside's 3" spaced wheels or even 1.5" spaced wheels with stock size tires that are fairly skinny look absolutely ridiculous IMO. Only way offset wheels look mean and appropriate are with wider than stiock tires. 12.5"+ width.
I tried 1.5" spacers with my 275/60/20's and thought it looked ridiculous. Same deal with my stock Mustang tires. They looked like little skinny tires sticking out....terrible.

Back in the day, spacers were considered bad news. Many horror stories around about failures on the road causing wheels to come off.
Now over the last 10 years or so more and more people are using them and they supposedly are ok IF they are Hub Centric spacers. Newer technology supposedly makes them much safer than old style spacers.
I know a lot of people run 'em, but I won't. If I want my tires to stick out a little then I'll buy a wheel with better offset and backspacing for it.
Just my 2 pennies...

i have 2.5" billet alum spacers/adapters with ARP studs and i'll take my truck offroad without any worries. i'm going to agree with hammer and say that if you're putting aftermarket wheels on the truck you might as well make sure they're the right backspacing to begin with. i have a long story behind mine, but yeah...... they aren't cheap at all.
