4.7L has trouble starting

Default 4.7L has trouble starting

2002 Ram 4.7L 200k miles;

Everytime I go to start the truck it cranks for about 5 seconds or so before it will finnaly start up.

Anybody have a clue?

Yeah, when is the last time you changed the plugs? They take basic copper plugs(nothing fancy) and need replacement every 30kmi or so.

If they are new, then the next time you go to start, leave the key in the run position for a few seconds and then try to start it. If it starts right away, then the 5sec cranking time is how long your fuel pump is taking to prime and build up the fuel pressure in the system.

plugs are new (200 miles new), and thats standard procedure for me on all my vehicles. I always let the pump prime before I start it
