I have been thinking of using this transmission behind a 392 or bigger 6.1 based build. I started leaning towards a built Sharadon 545, but with all the problems I have seen people have with them I am looking this option again.
the 6.1 is used in our WK, LX, and LC (grand cherokee, charger, 300c, magnum, and challenger) which all have NAG1
our trucks have the viper V10.
the diesels do have the 48RE but fits to the 5.9 diesel. like mine. ive never heard of it fitting a 6.1 only the 8.1 or 8.4 cant remember which the SRT ram has

Quad cab SRT-10 uses 8.4 V10 hooked to a reworked/recalibrated 48RE. I have seen more than a few people using 48RE's and even throwing 48RE internals into 46RE's for the lighter/shorter case. It's a cheaper way to get an inherently stronger transmission. The V10 uses the same bolt pattern as it's parent 5.9 magnum as does the new hemi (I know if you bolt a small block 727 trans, which is the great-granddaddy to all these later ones, to a new hemi it requires a spacer plate).

Same bolt pattern. Ever since the LA engines and the original V10 (both cast iron and aluminum) that sprung from it, with the exception of the early 90's Cummins, all use the same bellhousing pattern (cost saving if you don't have to have a different pattern for multiple trans options). See here & here.

25 lbs of boost is a number that is not obtainable unless you are willing to build a serious motor. Im running ten now with aftermarket internals. Have not dynoed yet but estimate 500HP +/-. When I did have stock parts my SC proved to be very beneficial. Have to say I am going to enjoy it even more with the upgrades. When towing there were no ill effects had the power I needed no matter the circumstances. Of course towing limits are not set based on power but by braking ability.

Thank you, thats some of the info i was looking for, i just threw out a number, if i can obtain 500 ish HP with under 15 PSI then f-ing awesome, im not building a drag truck just something that can move when not towing and has the ***** too tow, i didint exactly clarify my COMPLETE intentions with this truck so here goes,

im going to rebuild the motor for turbo or SC depending, im going to get a 5spd or 6spd trans out of a 3rd gen either keep my rear end, go to a 11.5 , or go with an F-700 2spd depending on how well the hemi performs with towing, rear is going to be 4linked and bagged along with the front, with ARB selectable lockers at both ends (dunno bout the 2spd rear) going to have 22.5 super singles out back low pro, and 22.5 dually tractions up front low pro, with about 3-4" of lift, OBA with a 10lb tank or so and deffinatly some brembo brakes n rotors all around, its going to be towing a toy hauler of sorts, for whenever i finish my toyota...

If you are so set on towing something that big then just buy a used freightliner sport chassis. It will do everything better and when compared to a 15psi boosted HEMI there is a damn good chance it will be cheaper.
