Default Ram 2500 Model Year Differences

What are the differences between a 2006 Dodge 2500 Cummins and a 2009 Dodge 2500 Cummins?

I am looking for both the exterior and interior changes.

Thanks

not a thing, dumb looking rear tail lights, on the 07 no orange markers under the front head lights, 07 bad u joints ( non serviceable ) week front axle shafts continue, or its just me who has had bad luck.

09 or 08 went to the 6.7 CTD, 06 to 07 had the 5.9 CTD

the motor change is actually VERY significant. Dodge changed over to the 6.7L midway thru 2006. so some have 5.9's and some have the 6.7L. the increase in displacement/hp/tq is in response to EPA clean diesel act 3 years soon than the other 2 mfg's. The 5.9 has the 4 spd auto and the 6.7 has the new 68RFE tranny. the 5.9 is what "everyone" wants as they can still achieve 18+ mpgs (some claim low to mid 20's with programmers)Both engines have suffered a loss in mileage when ultra low sulfer diesel was introduced. The new 6.7 needs to be worked out, doesn't like to idle, and gets mid teens in fuel mileage. now both will pull down a house, but only the 5.9 will make black smoke while doing it. Some are deleting the DPF which will void your 100k powertrain wrty, but they claim 5.9L results in doing so. Exterior, pretty close overall.

2009 2500 still looks like a 3rd gen, only the 1500 got the new body/chassis in 2009. 2500/3500 were updated for 2010.

The 2010 2500/3500 look like a damn 1500 on steroids...just beefier all around.

I don't mind the tail lights on my 07 2500. I've had minor issues pop up but most were dealt with fairly easily. The brakes are a weak area though. Large and they perform adequately but the factory pads and rotors appear to be wearing out a bit prematurely(34k). I've always braked pretty even with the Ram.

The Michelin LTX A/S tires ride extremely well but the side walls are exhibiting a small amount of cracking close to the rim. So far the u-joints haven't weakened or failed on me. Not to say it can't happen but I'm assuming I'll be doing those in the next 20-25k miles.

Cyclone, care to elaborate on the axle shafts? Interesting info?

Don't get me wrong, I really like the way the new Rams look. Looks like an overgrown Charger with a Challenger hood and a bed lol. Just not too enamored with the interiors.
