I have ceramics on stock rotors and tow a boat with surge breaks. When fully loaded its over 6k lbs. Just changed them and they lasted exactly a year to the month, switched to ceramic 3 yrs ago. They are pretty good, never had any issues. My rotors do need to be cut but like you I am going to get slotted and drilled ones and probably change the brand of pads. The pads I have been using have been from autozone.
