Default 4:56 gears and Pinion shaft notching.

Hi.
Can anyone inform me if when junking the stock 3:55 gear set on my 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 4X4 Hemi, for a 4:56 set......the pinion shaft needs to be notched?

Yeah, where's weedahoe at? He had pics of what the dealer did to his truck(notched the crap outta the housing itself)...lol, but then he also told how it should be done??? I never had to do any notching so I dunno, but yeah it needs to be done from what I've heard. Nothing a dremel tool couldn't do but it might take a little while.

offtopic, but....why are you running Iridiums? Even though you have a longer lasting plug, the gap still needs to be checked loooong before their 100kmi BS life span. Never have I seen an iridium plug that stayed gapped for longer than 50kmi, plus copper conducts better than a 50kmi Iridium all day long.....just sayin. ohh, and dayum, you musta spent some serious coin for those too???...lol

Yeah........."back in the day" when everyone thought that putting these plugs in would be OK for 100K without doing anything.....I went along with it.
Who wants to change out 16 of the most pig awful located plugs at 30K intervals except masochist's ha ha ha.
To be honest though, I've not had any problems with them and the engine runs as strong as it ever did.
I'm in the US at the end of Sept, so before I go, I have a "what to but while I'm over there " list.
I'm going to pop a few plugs and check on how they're doing.
I might buy a full set of the champion coppers when I'm over along with a set of stock wires and a sepentine plus some idler pulleys etc.

PM weed about those pics.

That's what I would do as well. pull 2 random plugs from 2 diff cylinders to check the gaps. No need to take all of'em out first shot.
