Weird ringing from under the hood.
I have an 07 QC, 4.7L, 20" wheels, with a 545RFE and about to turn 100,000 miles.
I have had the transmission serviced by the dealer every 25,000 miles. I just realized the only back-flushed the transmission and never changed the internal filter or even dropped the pan.
Yesterday I had the transmission serviced (both filters filter replaced) and the front seal on the differential replaced.
Wow. That transmissoin is super quiet now.
The problem: I was driving to work this morning (about 50 miles) and after about 20 minutes I started hearing a really loud ringing coming from under the hood. Not a whine, rubbing or vibration, but a ringing! I was driving 75 mph. All of the gauges were normal.
I pulled over really quick and cut the ignition. I checked under the hood and everything appeared OK. Belts were tight, all of the fan blades were attached and tight, no leaks under the truck, I tried to wiggle the drive shaft but it was OK ( a little play but not more than when I bought it).
It's got me stumped. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Pete
