5.7 question
Does my hemi shut down at a certin speed? I know all the other trucks I have had cut out somewhere between 90-100, but last night on the way home from work I was somewhere around 105 and it didnt shut down.
08 5.7 gov. kicks in at 108 its not going to shut down its just going to stop accelerating, some people say turnning the key when wide open bypasses the gov. it doesnt work on mine my radio just turns off lol
As for the original post, 3G hemis are fly by wire, so they don't need to shut down, as the PCM directly controls the throttle body (and subsequently the RPM). It just doesn't go anymore. Before I disabled the speed limiter, mine would run right up to 105 and there she stayed, no bucking, nothing. The fastest I've ever had it was 120 mph on a long open lonely stretch of highway in TX and that was enough for me. Maybe after a few mods I'll try it again, but not much point unless you're pushing 500hp to begin with (a RC SRT-10 will hit 154 and that's all she wrote).

110 mph my truck is still pulling, 115 mph you can tell it is not gonna go any faster, I have had the speedo burried at 120 mph. full out the RPm is hitting abought 5500, running threw the gears I have on occasion hit the rev limmitor.
True dual ex helps out the hemi, but to be fair to the design of the Ram, esp a 3/4 ton Ram, the truck can not over come simple physics, not made to be a NASCAR RAcer.
I pushed my truck one time, and its the last time.
