Red face new truck + questions

traded my 07 1500 reg long 4.7 in for a 05 1500 quad short 5.7 4x4 and am frustrated with

the 26gal fuel tank the short bed has

open front and rear diff

and finding a front hitch that comes out in the gap in the bumper that dosn't utilize the optional horn hook

ive tried looking for a lsd air or electric locker for this truck but after nothing on three sites and google and other searches coming up with nothing more than an other tech forum still looking.

and their is the small tank is a larger one sold aftermarket for the 4door short bed? somewhere around 45 gallon?

and the front hitch i'm trying to find one that comes out like this one on my trade in

The 26 gal tank was standard, but a 34 gal tank was optional. If you do a search, weedahoe did a conversion as wrote a how to for it.

Get an Auburn or Detroit True Trac LSD for the rear. I am not sure what, if anything, is available for the front.

I don't know about the hitch in the front, you can always make your own.

yea i made that one thought the front ends were diffrent measured the frames and came with a 1/4" difference in width so figured i'd have to make a new one.

and i'll look for weedahoe's fuel tank post

and thank you as well for branding the ones that make optional carriers for the 9.25

Justin.

Yeah, they do make bigger but they are not stock tanks. The bigger ones cost a lot and fit in the bed up against the cabin wall. I have an Auburn LSD in mine and no complaints at all.

As for the front hitch, as Glass3222 said, you will need to fab one up. The good thing is that some guys are one step ahead of you and have already done this so maybe so can search some threads and find them

Not sure about the front hitch deal, but the towhooks are rather pricey. I would check out JC Whitney or places like tht for the front mount.

I'd opt for the DTT and leave the front an open diff as the half shafts aren't strong enough for daily grind of a LSD IMO, plus that stuff is more for dedicated trail riders. Street trucks don't need LSD for the front and actually they are not better for street use.(front LSD that is)

Yea my truck has the 34 gal tank, so if thats big enough you could order this one from dodge

and if you can weld I think the hitch idea would be a couple hour job

sorry in my postings i must beat around what i'm trying to say

i made the front hitch that was on my 07 i left it on there bc i thought the front ends were diffrent from the reg cab to quad cab so i left it on the truck when i traded it in

thanks for the idea of installing the 35gallon like was in my long bed 07 iv'e tried looking online though for one closer to 50 or 80 gallons, if you could help me find one online thanks, i went to 490miles 15.5 to a tank every two weeks to 320 14.4 every 8 days gets a little annoying plus now cant go anywhere with out filling up first and then a little before i get there, and how odd it is to fill up at around 65$ instead of 97$

and in the front end i don't want a limited slip being the front end turns all the time i'm looking for a manual locker and mabye a lsd for the rear or locker that i was able to find myself, but still need to know the ring size for the front end or an electric locker part number.
