The trans, yeah, but I think the rear could handle it. I had a 9.25 in a 74 Monaco with a built 440 and other than it being a tall gear one leg rear, it never complained or gave me any problems. The Monaco was 4600 lbs, which is only 700 lbs less than my QC truck. I also had a 72 Road Runner that the previous owner had removed the 8.75 and put a B body 9.25 under it for the sure grip. That car was constantly sideways from the built 400 that was in it.

I miss my Monaco. Long story short, build the trans, the rear will most likely live long enough for you to have enough $$ to either upgrade or better replacement.

Yeah, i was going to ask about tis because doing a good lift and new rims and tires is costly enough even if you yourself are doing all the work. But then trying to add another engine and everything that goes with it? Thats no small fortune invested. Not saying my truck is poster truck but Im lifted and cammed and custom tuned and no lack of power issues for me.

However, IF i were rich, I would have gone more radical a long time ago.

yeah, it will all happen over time. Since it is running fine now, I am looking into doing things little by little. That way when the day comes that I need a new motor or I have everything I need, I can just swap everything and be done. The light and stuff can wait. I would just like to have enough power to make it fun to drive and also help the truck not kill itself trying to turn the larger rolling stock.

Then all you need are gears and a cam.

You will have to either program or flash your PCM to take advantage of the engine, as you will not be able to use the pass. car PCM in a Ram (just for starters).
The truck 07 came with a 5.7l now has a 6.1l the motor has clearance to fit I believe they did something with the intake not sure swapped it for some reason I believe but don't promise that the only problem that occurred was the manifold had to purchase a racing manifold the 5.7 Will not work once manifold is changed out it'll all work out just routing it. And they went with a larger cam so the PCM had to be done. We're going to go back in redo lifters and go with a lower cam just doing the top end of the 6.1l can't wait. But the switch isn't that bad if you know your way around a motors. Hope that will help someone making decisions. Later

Did you resurrect this dead 14 yr old thread just to fill it with that semi-coherent mess?
