Default power tailgate lock suggestions??

i've decided to get a powered tailgate lock and have been looking around at many different kinds. i have a tonneau cover thats more of a top mount style that doesn't hang over the tailgate to help lock it in. so basically, with my lid locked i can still open/close the tailgate anytime. i like this but want to hook it up to my powered doorlocks. i saw this on ebay but wonder if it would be ok to use. others i see are like the 2x the price. anybody have any suggestions.

For 30 bucks you might as well give that a try. I never understood the point of a locking tailgate unless there was a a secure cap on it.

cool find, I may have to order this. as korby05 stated, they tend to 'walk away'.

well im planning on keeping a stroller and a couple items in there so why wouldn't i lock it up. the lid locks so i would need a locking tailgate handle because my cover is a top mount and doesn't hang over the tailgate.

Around here another reason is to steal the taillight assemblies. They are very expensive to replace.

Take care,

Matt

Guys also use hose clamps around the tail gate hinges to hinder theft. Jimmy Jammer also makes a tail gate theft deterrent

i plan on also using the hose clamps along with a powered tailgate. im still debating whether to try this ebay one i listed above. for $40 shipped doesn't seem too bad....im wondering, if the actuator stinks i guess i could replace it with a much stronger one down the road if it were to fail. just a thought. at least all the wiring would be done already.
