Why do snow tires or A/T tires that do well in the snow have to look like crap...lol

I love the looks of mud tires but I know they suck on ice.

 

I have had both Cooper and Mastercraft snow tires and they both did really well for me. I have been looking ofr snow tires for my 05 Quadcab and like the look of the duratracs but am not convinced yet to leave my Coopers. BTW I am about 8 miles from Seven Springs and Hidden Valley Ski Resorts here in PA and the Coopers got me through.
