Fog light/ headlight circuit wiring issues
I installed a set of aftermarket fog lights on my 2004 Ram 2500 recently and spliced into the fog light circuit wiring from the existing damaged factory fog lights. I wanted to keep the existing headlight switch with the integrated fog light switch. Everything was going great, until I shorted the circuit with a bare connection to the bumper. Checked all fuses and relays, none were blown. Replaced the headlight switch, still no power to the lights. Hotwired the lights to the battery and they came on. The only thing I can think of at this point is a computer issue. I read several older posts on bypassing the relays for the fog lights to stay on with high and ow beams. I would love to be able to do this and still use the factory switch. Im not fond of drilling my dash. Anybody got pics of the relay bypass from the older posts? Will the bypass override a possible computer issue? Any help will greatly appreciated!
Headlights out too or just the fogs?

But I doubt it will fix your problem as the switch still has to be "on" for the fogs to be on w/ high beams.
The wire from the fogs to the switch is a little, skinny one as only about .3 amps are needed to turn on the relay, so my guess is you melted it somewhere along the line when you shorted out the lights...

It doesn't sound like a PCM issue. Any codes thrown?
Get back to basics. Get your head lites working with it's own relay with no splices on anywhere. Next, Ck to see if the fog relay is getting pwr. Turn your original truck fog lite sw on w/main lite sw on, parking or headLites, then go to fog relay socket and probe for 12v+ at the #85 or #86 pin (relay coil). This may put your mind at-ease as per Hammer71 mentioned (small wire) if the coil pwr lead was toasted somewhere between the main lite sw and fog relay. I stand to be corrected, but I believe pin # 30 will be the power to burn the fog lites out thru pin #87. That pwr is always present. Don't get it confused with/for the relay power-on 12+.
