Default factory Differential oil

What brand and type of oil did the factory put in the diffs? I have a 2005 ram 1500 LSD.

It came with mobil1 synthetic motor oil from the factory.

3 bottles of 75w-140 for the rear. Fill to 1/2" below the hole

no friction modifier is needed, just the oil.

Do you have an owners manual? I'd look in there for specific amounts.

I was told by the service manager at my local dealership that ALL Mopar synthetic oils, whether it be crankcase, gear, etc. were contracted from Valvoline.

Now granted this was during a round of golf we were playing about four years ago, so it could be different by now...

I too would be surprised if it was Mobil 1 with the cost and all.
Don't matter much really. Synthetic is Synthetic as far as I'm concerend since I do regular maintenance intervals so the fluid that comes out is almost always still good. That's called preventative mainenance.

He has LSD, why would he not want the modifier?

OP - Almost no American production vehicle is born with synthetic motor oil in it. The only one I can think of is the Z06. There are probably others, but the Ram isn't one of them. When I changed the fluid in mine, I used Mobil1 ('bout four quarts 'cause of the PML cover), and seven ounces of friction modifier.

sorry for the confusion. I was saying the truck came with mobil1 MOTOR oil. The OP was asking what type of oil was originally in the diff's. I reckon the answer is that all the fluids were synthetic.

Thanks for y'alls posts
