How do i know which differential i have? How much fluid? Transmission?
I just bought the service manual and thought it would tell me somewhere to identify the differential i have, but apparently it does not? On other forums i have been able to find alot of how-to's and exact fluid types/capacity's.
However for this dodge, and forums i cannot find anything, (why i bought the service manual) but im still not finding information in black and white.
I have never changed differential fluid and wanted to know how, how much it takes etc? I have a 2003 Laramie 2wd 1500 5.7L
Also while im on the topic, i need to know the transmission fluid capacity as well with both filters replaced? Any DIY guides on either of these?? thanks

You can take the VIN to the dealer and get a build sheet to tell you everything that came with the truck. You can also email dodge and do the same.
Here are some service manuals that I know will tell you fluid capacity's

Also for my transmission i dont know which one i have service manual tells me to information on body plate.. in transmission place mine says DGQ.. which does not match anything of the service manual??? I assume i have 5 speed which in manual says is DG8, obviously a typo somewhere
Yep, if it's a Hemi, it's a five speed (5-45-FRE, or RFE, I can never remember). 1500s got 9 1/4" rear ends.
When I did the drop 'n' drain on my Ram, it took just about seven quarts of fluid. I used Valvoline ATF +4. There are a couple of good how-tos on the forum. Some of them are even entertaining in a twisted sort of fashion.
