2004 ram 2500 hemi.........when rpms hit 4k, throttle cuts out, but not all the time. seems to do it only when warmed up. and does it in every gear including neutral and park. any help would be appreciated.
As said above, it is the rev limiter. It is in place to keep you from damaging the engine although it can be bypassed with a tuner like Diablo or Superchips. A lot of guys move up the limiter to a higher number including myself.
My 2004 2500 hemi does this from time to time. I've never figured out what it is. I just turn the ignition off & start it up again, and it goes back to normal.
I also experienced this once about 6-months back. I shut it off and started it back up and it went away. It was a pain in the rear when I was merging on the highway in DC!!!!
