Default New Hemi Owner

Hi,

After a long wait, I finally bought my truck this weekend. 2005 Ram 1500 Quad Laramie with a hemi. I'm looking for your opinions on bedliners. Sprayed or drop in? Thanks

BTW, great forum.

My 2004 ram came with a drop in liner from the factory and it fits nice so I dont have any complaints about it. However I had my 97 ram sprayed and it was a way better bed liner, only thing wrong with it is paying for it. Here in wyoming it was like 600 bucks to get it sprayed in. I think they are both good, just depends on your budget.

I prefer the Line-X liner or similar quality spray in, however, mine came with the factory UTR liner already so why spend the money now. Maybe I can justify the spray in liner to my wife once the factory liner has had a chance to wear away at the paint.

Mine came with the bedliner as well. You don't mention if yours came with the drop in. My preference would be for the sprayed in if you don't already have the dropin. I don't know how much it goes on, but there's always the chance the drop in can rub the paint off and create rust which won't happen on a spray in. If you do go sprayed on, spend the $ and get a good one thats plenty thick. Rhino Liners is a good brand. It also has the advantage of different colors and you can get it on top of the bed rails as well--most (particularly the DC stock) don't cover the rails. Just don't get that crap from Auto Zone or Pep Boys that you can either spray on or roll on yourself. It is cheaper, but you'll either wear thru it or have to keep touching it up.

IMO if you can't afford or don't want to spend the $ on a good spray on, then go ahead with the drop in. Either way is better than the old standby---the sheet of plywood in the back.
