Default Please help

I have a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 4.7L. I am having a problem with the truck and I don't whats causing it. When you are stopped the RPMs move up and down between 0-1000 and sounds like its going to stall, and sometimes it does. Its starting to happen more and more. If I am at a stop light it will stall sometimes. Also after you first get in the truck and start it up, when I pull out the drive way it doesn't want to go, and then all of a sudden it picks up and goes. Also does this sometimes while waiting at a light. Does anyone have any ideas of why it may be doing this? Please help, I appreciate the help.

Clean the throttle body. It's probably time for plugs and wires. When was the air filter last changed?

I'm not sure when the last time any of that was done. I bought this truck at a sheriffs auction. Some told me before it sounded like the torque converter but I don't know much about that, so I wanted to get another opinion.

I'd pull off and either clean or replace your IAC valve. Here's a video I found real quick for removal. HERES

Also the trans fluid level can effect the idle. If you don't know the service history than everything needs to be done.

I'll have to try those suggestions, thanks a lot. And I already checked the trans fluid level, and actually added some but didn't help at all.

Do the 4.7's have EGR?

I'm not sure, but I don't think the EGR would cause this, and the check engine light should ould come on if anything was wrong with the EGR valve and the check engine light has never come on.

Absolutely would, And no the check engine light would not necessarily come on if there were and egr issue. In fact I have fixed many EGR issues where the CEL never even so much as flickered. Don't trust the lights, There are tons of things that won't ever throw a code.

Another thing that would cause this is a intake gasket leak.
