Default 4wd Light is on when I'm in 2wd

Hey I have two 2003 Dodge ram 1500's, one 4.7L (120,000 miles)and one with the 5.7L. 155'000 miles) both of them now have the 4x4 indicator light lit up when the truck is in 2wd. I assume there is a switch on or in the transfer case that is bad or out of adjustment that I need to fix. But I figured I'd ask, dose anyone have experience with this issue. Any easy fixes? Is this changing anything in the performance or function of the truck or is it just a light

Both are manual Shift and both had a transfer case fluid change in the last year.
I was messing with the 5.7L today shifting into 4HI, 4LO and 2wd while parked and now I have no light at all. I do still have the light cycle on then off when you turn the key off then back on "light check" for a few seconds

Doesnt that light only come on once its engaged? I'm thinkin that you need to make sure your lever is all the way down to get the light off. And im not totally sure but im thinkin if your in park the light may not come on until it engages. Try putting it in 4hi and driving back and forth in the driveway a bit.

try putting it in 4x4 them turn it off while its loccked in give it a second then start it back up and put it 2wd and turn the truck off again and give it a second then start it back up and see if that works. it worked for mine and a few buddies trucks.
