Default towing question

hey guys. so my truck has 125k on the clock. its a 2wd Hemi. do you think it would be unwise to tow my gf's 99' Malibu from Michigan to Virginia? does something need to be done to the truck first? should I check something?

Just check everything as you normally would like tire pressure, fluid levels, ECT. Do you feel "good" about your truck? Do YOU think it will make it and not give any issues? No one knows it better than you do.

Weed is right....if you have a properly maintained truck , it should be no problem. I would just make sure that that trailer is also in good shape. I personally like trailers with electric brakes and always use a weight distributer whenever possible ( makes the tow so much better). I know that the Uhaul use surge brakes and are harfer om your own brakes and require longer braking distances. Good luck

Newer ATF cannot be judged by color (or so says my service manual)
I doesn't hurt to drop the pan and replace the filters especially before a big trip

Hey, Ive got some food in the fridge that is kinda old. Should I keep it and use it for dinner tonight or throw it out?

Get our point?

Change the fluids. ALL of them including the rear diff also.

The not changing of the tranny fluid after a certain point was an old school thing that has been disproven over and over in recent years. Change the tranny fluid...

Yep, Not changing the fluid is a bad idea. Over time it looses viscosity which means that it doesn't have the lubrication characteristics that it once had. Replacing the fluids will do nothing but improve lubrication in the tranny which also helps keep it cool which will help while towing. Check/change fluids that need to be changed, flush the cooling system if it hasnt been done, check tire pressures, etc.
