Default another gear question

I think I'm customer 152,325,467,895,235 on a gear question. I googled my ? to no real avail. I've got an 07 mega cab with hemi and 3.73 gears. I can get about 21 mpg's on flat freeway but actually average 18 and under 9 in city. I tow a little bit. usually during summer months. per week I do bout 70/30 highway to city miles per week. I wanna upgrade to lower gears to get the difference between the two a little closer and not such a huge gap. over 10 mpg difference is insane. anywho, what are everyone's real world averages. not oh some website calculator says it should be this much. I'd just like to have an idea. I've been thinking 4.56 for this brute. I'm stock now, and will be for some time but logging in over 1500 miles a month I need to close the gap.

IF you tow get 4.56 gears, plain and simple. I had 4.56's on my 05 1500 and I improved gas mileage all the way around especially in town. Since you have a mega cab you would definitely benefit from 4.56 gears.

Yep, gearing will get that city driving economy up and you'll tow better, while lessening the work your transmission will have to do.

I dunno why they do 3.73 gearing stock, that would be the right gears for a diesel Megacab, but IMO 4.10s should be MINIMUM for a Mega gasser. 4.56s would be a great upgrade...
