Default 08 Dodge 1500 Big Horn 4x4 check engine light KEEPS coming on...

Check Engine light keeps coming on. bought the truck from dealership with a Cold air intake on it... light comes on the service dept @ dealership said it was due to the aftermarket K&M filer kit... so we went back STOCK and had air leaks all over... they got that fixed then Cyl #1 was dropping due to Plat spark plugs installed @ dealership i purchased the truck. the service dept im now using has told me that 1 side of the plugs HAS to be cooper due the the heat. Now the light comes code could be loose gas cap to the light being on with no code (according to the service dept mngr) . right now they have called Chrysler Tech line? and they suggested a new computer for the truck... does this seem like step in the right direction to fixing it? thx for any help...

No I would of put champions in all the tubes. Then double checked the sensors for the tb. seeing as it had cai work done to it. You could try the fuel cap, But the first thing I would do is disconnect the batt. for five minutes . reconnect and See what happens start the motor. If all else fails I would find another dealer. They clearly sound like amatuers

yeah..try resetting the computer by disconnecting the negative cable for 90+ seconds...if the problem persists...take it to autozone or some place that has a scan tool and will do it for free...run a diagnostics test on it...get the codes yourself and you can google the codes on the internet or sometimes the place with the scan tool has a computer that will give you a print out of what this means...dealerships will give you a run around to get money as if they dont make enough...post your codes on here and i am sure someone can put you in the right direction

also the CAI shouldnt pose a problem bc an engine can only take in as much air as it displaces
as long as all the connections are tight it should only benefit you not hurt you...lots of people on here running CAI and i read way to many forums and none of them saying anything about CAI being the problem

No need to google the codes when we have them all posted here on the site plus all the info on them from Alldata. Ive never seen a CAI cause an issue. It doesnt matter how long or big the CAI is because the TB plate remains the same size and in the same position so no matter what, the same amount of air is going to go in the engine at any given time. The 2 things a CAI does is theoretically cause a cooler air in the engine to cause a denser air/fuel charge (which is physical) and make the IAT think the air is cooler and adjust the timing through the PCM accordingly.

If the CEL is on then there are DTC codes stored and you need those codes to go any further or you will be wildly guessing.

Welcome to the site BTW.
