code p0750
New to the Forum and thanks for such and outlet. I have an 06' 4.7 (gas) Dodge Ram 1500 with about 98,000 on it. About two weeks ago tranny all of a sudden wouldn't shift. I have an inexspensive code reader and it gave me two codes, one I was told by a mechanic was the trigger to set off the one I'm concerned with p0750 shift solenoid a. I purchased this truck through my company which replaces them every 70k miles. All light maintenance is done but I know for a fact the trans fluids has never been changed. Are my symtons and code a sure bet that if I change the shift solenoid I'd be back up and running? Or should I replace the fluids and filters first before moving on to the solenoid? Thanks for any assisstance.****Update****Thanks for all the responses. And to OlDirtyJohn, I replaced the pack, fluid and filters and I've been up and running without any issues. It was actually a very easy job. I have a new question. The dealer suggested I do a complete tranny drain at a cost of $200 and change. Is this recommended? I used Castrol fluid ATF+4 for the refill. Thanks.

I don't know how much you know about transmission, but I would take it in to a transmission shop and have them look at it and get it serviced since according to you its hasn't been in 98000 miles. If its not shifting and its throwing codes about the shift solenoid, somethings wrong. Better to get it looked out now instead of risking failure down the road and having to blow a couple grand on a new transmission.
Welcome to the site, unfortunately transmissions on the one part many guys dont mess with or tear apart. However, there are threads in here with that code so feel free to do some searching through them and hopefully you can find something that will help out. If you do, be sure to report it back here.
