Unhappy Trouble codes, help me! - Solved

I went mud riding in my 02 RAM. I dropped off in a hole with the front. the water came up on the hood and the truck took a big gulp of muddy water through the air intake. The check engine light came on and it ran rough. I went home and took off the wet air filter and replaced. I read the code as po132, and p300. I reset the code light and drove the truck. still missed and black smoke from the exhaust. I drove with dry gas in the tank and still no changes. Just checked the codes again and they were po171, po300, po302, po303, po304. What have i done to my truck?

P0171 means that the oxygen sensor has detected to much oxygen ("lean condition") in the exhaust. P0300 means random cylinder misfire, P0302 means cylinder 2 misfire, P0303 means cylinder 3 misfire, and P0304 means cylinder 4 misfire.

Which engine do you have? 5.9L V8, 4.7L V8?

Depending on the engine, I will move the thread to the appropriate section (2nd gen for 5.9L V8, 3rd gen for 4.7L V8).

Ok. Thanks. I have a 4.7. However, I change the o2 sensor and no more problems. I will stick to the mud and leave the water for swimmers! HA HA.

Glad to hear it got resolved, and thank you for posting the outcome. I will still move this thread to 3rd gen for organizational purposes, but once again, welcome to Dodge Forum.

Consider yourself lucky as you didnt hydrolock the engine or break any rods or bend pushrods.

I am soooo glad. It has stalled at idle in gear foot on the break about three times since, but no check engine light or any rough running. My gas mileage is back too. maybe computer has to re-adjust or something. Thank everyone for their help.

IAC valve? That controls the idle. It's mounted to your throttle body. Take it off and clean it or replace it. Common for those to carbon all up and stall when coasting to a stop.
