Red face Popping from front end

Hey guys I have an 02 Ram 1500 4WD and I am hearing a popping noise from the front. The half shaft axle (driver side), and ball joint have all been replace about 8 months ago. Took the truck to the shop and they said they couldnt find anything wrong other than the ball joint boot needed more grease. The popping only happens when you turn and only when moving slowly. Also when you hit a bump on the highway the whole front end jars you around and if not careful sends you into the other lane... Any ideas>? Please help

I moved this to the Technical section for you.

If they are trying to imply that more grease inside the balljoint will stop your popping problem, then your balljoint is bad. It shouldn't move even when dry! Not sure if that's what you meant or if you just had lack of grease which is all they could find?
Do you have a leveling kit or have your torsion bars cranked up at all?
Did they check your wheel bearing for play?
Can you feel the pop in the steering wheel?

Cant feel any pop in the steering but you can hear it when the wheel turns. Torsion bar has never been touched. Not sure about the wheel bearing and/or how to check those. When taken to the shop they said everything looked out but didnt know why it was popping.

My money would be on ball joint/tie rod end. Especially if it makes your steering jump, I'd bet tie rod end. If it was dry, it could very well have rusted out and when that joint pops, it's going to let your steering jump a little. To test it, you need to jack the wheel up, and see if it has any play. Grab the tire on the left and right and wiggle to the left and right. Grab the top and bottom, and wiggle it in and out. There should be no play at all. If you do have play, then watch behind the tire at the joints to see where the play is coming from. It's important to know that this play can also be the result of a bad wheel bearing like DirtyDog said. But if they found a dry ball joint, I suspect that it's had a chance to wear out.
I have never change tie rod ends on my truck, but they look easy enough. There are tons of videos on you tube showing you how to change tie rod ends without needing an alignment.

Thats my guess is a tie rod end if youe getting thrown all over like that. You should def. test like buggsy said also easy way to narrow down tre is just grab it and wiggle. If you have play its bad. Not an extremely hard fix but if your doing it yourself save yourself the hassle and get a good greasable one. Then make sure you get an alignment.
Just noticed u have a 4wd. Popping could be from a bad u-joint but really shouldnt really throw u all over the road but thats something to look out for too.
