Default Tranny advice needed

Well I just dropped my transmission pan and changed the filters. Got everything back together and now it won't go into gear. I tried to get a code. All it says is Trans Temp (light). Any help would be appreciated.

Did you put a new seal on the main "flat" filter?
If you did, did you seat it correctly?
ALso, you didn't push the seal onto the filter spout then push the whole thing into the valve body then tighten the bolt holding the filter in place did you?
Are your fluid levels correct and ATF+4 and most importantly, did you get the correct filters?
4x4 filters are bigger and have a longer "spout" connecting it into the valve body than the 2 wheel drives, as the pan is deeper.
Just a few things for you to answer that might point towards your problem.
Hope this helps?
Al.

Yeah, sounds like either the o-ring seal isnt right one the flat filter ot the fluid level. Al is telling you the right way on how to put the o-ring seal in the trans. Did you do it that way?

Two areas to check, 1. Fluid level. Check fluid level after driving the truck and with the engine running. While the tranny pan was off you noticed an incessant drip from the tranny. You probably lost more fluid than you think and the new filters soak up plenty also. 2. If not fluid level, then almost certainly as Abarmby described. The flat pan filter plugs directly into the tranny pump and needs a good seal. Installing the flat filter requires some technique; slowly push the filter into hole while gently twisting and wiggling until the flange contacts the tranny body. My guess is that either you have installed the seal incorrectly or the filter is cocked in its mount. Either is fairly easy to fix but requires removing the tranny pan again.

I dropped the pan again to see if the flat filter was properly sealed. It was just setting there loose. For me it was H*LL getting it seated. Finally got it and everything is fine now. The transmission shifts a lot smoother now, without the delayed pause that sometimes happens with an overdue fluid change. Thanks for the responses!
