My serv 4wd light is on.. went under the truck and wiggled the plug that connects to the transfer case it turns the light off... and the switch inside the truck lights up again... and says its in 4x4... when i go to drive though its still in 2wd... this is on a 2004 dodge ram 1500. You can hear the transfer case engaging.... but the front tires still dont move.... any idea's of what this could be....

 

I think the actuator is going bad on the 4x4. Someone here had the same problem. Do a search and you'll find the thread. Good Luck!!!

 

That is why I prefer a manual-shift transfer-case rather than an electronic-shift.

 

Well its not the actuator as i said you can hear it moving in the transfer case, the drive shaft is also moving... something inside isnt working....
