Default Magnum to LA motor swap

just this past weekend my brother blew is 5.9l magnum motor, sad but true, he is looking for a replacement block. Motors aren't cheap these days but I gave him an idea but needs some questions answered first. If he were to put a LA 360 or 340 in his 2002 dodge ram 1500 could we bolt it to his trans(46re)? Also we had done a lot of top end work to his 360 like heads, cam, intake manifold, etc. could all that bolt on a LA block? He also still needs emissions where we live is there a way we could hook the efi, sensors and what not to the LA motor? it sounds like a cool idea, especially a 340 stroked to a 410 with a 4" crank under his hood. If it aint possible let me down easy I don't want to hear any smart answers lol I aint that familiar with the LA motors as much as the magnums.

I'm not sure about the tranny bolting straight up and you can forget emissions and efi unless you pay somebody real good for a real expensive custom tune.

If I was gonna try to pull this off, it'd be carb'd and no electronic crap or I'd not attempt it.

Since when did Georgia goto emissions testing? I lived there for 14 years (and still have land there) and never had to have any testing done.

He's got around 415hp, the dumba$$ was pulling a log that ways well over twice his truck, thats dead weight too draggin the dirt as well. thats how he blew it not by racin which would be an actual excuse. he decided not to do the la swap hes having a mechanic come over to look at it with him, i know hes got oil in the coolant and coolant in the oil, the oil is burnt to hell, the oil pump is out, and who knows whats knockin in there. all that equalls to a hell of a lot of $ and on top of that hes gonna stroke it still if the block is savable.
