Gas tank size?
Ok, so the manual for my truck says I have a 34 gallon gas tank. I went to fill up for the first time tonight had about an eighth of a tank and the pump shut off at about 23 gallons. I have an 03 ram 2500 5.7L v8 crew cab short bed. Did previous owner put in a smaller tank? Or did some come with a 26 gallon tank?
Maybe math can work! If theres 3 gallons for 1/8 a tank (what you have left out a 26 gal. tank) that comes out to 24 for full tank. (6 gal. for 1/4 tank x 4=24) so it may be pretty close. But then again, I about flunked outta math!
Owners manuals usually don't tell you WHICH tank you have- they will show you both options. Have you run a Build Sheet for it from a Dodge dealer or by contacting Chrysler?
You can contact Dodge here- http://www.dodge.com/webselfservice/...m%28%27R%27%29
Just give them your info and the VIN number from your truck- 1-3 days later they will email you all the options your truck came with from the factory.
I would find it unlikely that the previous owner switched tanks- as there aren't many valid reasons to do so IMO.
I have a 34 in my '07- 1/8-1/4 tank I filled it up and it took 27 gallons.
