Default Fuel Problems

My friend is having problems with his 2002 dodge ram 1500 5.9L 390. So i have a problem with it sitting in my garage. He told me it was a bad fuel pump. So we replaced the pump. We started it, it ran for a minute and died again. Wont start now. It cranks, we can hear the pump prime and it has pressure. It also has suction so I know its getting air. I haven't checked the spark yet. What can be wrong with this thing. I will get is scanned on monday to see what codes pop up.

Thanks

cycle the key on off on off until you leave the key on and a code pops up 'P0987' or whatever. When it's done with the codes it will flash 'done'

SO I got the code P1491. Which I don't believe has anything to do with my problem. The truck has air and spark. It feels like its choking out. It will start and run for a minute. Then the RPMs will go crazy and its sputters to death. I replaced the enitre fuel pump assembly. What should I try next?

Could be timing. Could be a vacuum leak. You verified spark on each plug?

sounds like it could be your IAC or TPS, I would take the throttle body off and give it a real good cleaning

I did not verufy each plug. It will start and run for a minute before it chokes out. After it dies I have to wait a couple of hours before it will start again. I assume it has spark all around becuase it is not missing for the minute it does run.

Do like Dodgeboy79 said. I had similar problem and a good scrubbing of the throttle body fixed it. Along with some Techron and 93 octane.
