Hemi Engine
The MDS will be on the 06 trucks. As far as mileage is concerned, I saw an improvement as the mileage has increased. I'm almost at 6K miles. I'm heading back up to Georgia and I'll let everyone know how the mileage goes.
the MDS system is only used sporadicly the enginge runs on all eight cylyndes almost all the time. arond town and stop and go driving or when you are constantly accelerating and decelerating. MDS will mostly be used when cruise control is set or typical freeway driving but when it is in the MDS mode it will activate all * cylynders every 12 mins. i think, in order to keep the enginges temp up. it does help with gas milage but not that much, but either way if i could get 2-3 mpg better id take it.
my hemi chews up gas faster than an fat women at an all you can eat buffet. That thing gets about 13 MPG. Of course I just cant seem to keep my foot off that rectangular thing toward the right down on the floor. I guess I must have been the only one with the owners manual showing the gas pedal flush witht he floor. I am only trying to keep with Dodges recomendations and what the owners manual says. Hahahaha. I hear it was rare model, only few were made. I have the 4x4 SLT QC with 3.92rear. Well, it atleast hauls ***. More than I can say for some other trucks out there.
I saw a beautiful 300 that had the HEMI that shut down to four cylinders while "resting" on the road. My truck runs all 8 all the time. I'm at ~16MPG the old fashioned way (miles / gallons) for 75% highway and 25% city after 52,000 miles on a 2003 SLT QC 4x4 with tow (3.92 dif).
Hah, Hemi_Off_Road, I think we got the same rare model! I have never, since the day I drove it off the showroom floor gotten better than 13MPG. I don't often turn the tires, as I want them to be in decent shape when I sell them after I get some 17" rims and tires, but I definitely keep my foot in it.
hey wulf, I thought that I might have been the only one one with that rare model. Fortunately the price of gas has gone down here in Sacramento and I only had to pay 60 dollars to fill up vs the normal 80 dollars. I have the 34 gallon tank. I might have to refinance just to feed the beast. I commute 70 miles a day, so it will never be mistaken for a Toyota Prius. AHHHH, Califonia tree hugging hippies must love me.
F the tree huggers. I love my regular cab HEMI 4x2. They seem rare where I live (Chicago area). The only time I see others is when they are some company truck that is stripped out with the six banger in it or they have the HEMI and little else (no 20's no painted bumpers no SLT pkg) I like being rare but i do see myself up-sizing to the Quad Cab eventually, when I have 2.2 kids maybe. I have never wished for a QC to date and believe me I utilize the slight performance advantage my regular cab provides. As for MPG dont ask me, the computer hovers around 14.5 all the time and I am mostly highway at 70 plus MPH all the time. Oh Yeah, louder pipes DEFINATLY equal poorer MPG. [X(]
I HAVE NO CLUE HOW THE STARTER OF THIS POST GETS THAT KINDA GAS MILAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i have an 05 hemi 4x4 2500 (4.10 or 4.11 rear gears i can remember which one it is) 5 -speed auto trans. i have never got any better then 13.2 MPG even on the dam highway. and i dont even beat on it, its bone stock....... i drag race so i dont need to beat up on my truck while i drive every day, i get my agression out on the track... i usually cruise at 75 or 80MPH at like 2,200-2,300 RPM's.... also that overhead consoul over estimates the fuel milage be like .2-.5 miles per gallon......... when it says 12.3 mpg i do the math when i re-fuel and i was only getting like 11.9-12.0 at the most....

I have 7000KM on my truck now, and around town I'm getting 13MPG in heavy traffic, 18MPG in light traffic, and the best highway mileage I've seen so far is 20MPG. When I'm driving like leadfoot, I get about 11MPG, heh.
