throttle problems, 5.7
Throttle has a dead band. Either in park or running, the throttle stops increasing the engine rpms at a certain spot. This has caused the transmission to down shift while driving due to going past the dead band, then it hits for the transmission to down shift. The dead band area is about 2" of pedal movement.
This is a 2003 5.7 hemi. What areas or tests can i do with a meter or any adjustments that can be done? Or is this an indication that the throttle body needs to be replaced?
Im new here, but will fill out my information at a later date. Any help is appreciated.

There are rev/RPM limiters in place. What RPMs are you seeing this at? What MPH if any? There are ways around it but I need to make sure that is what you are seeing and not specific TB related issues.
Welcome home BTW.

mainlt going down the hwy. Running 70 mph and wanting to go a little faster, there isnt any throttle. Then you continue to press the accelerator pedal further and still nothing, then it goes into transmission kickdown.
Going up hills the transmission is constantly kicking down due to having to make the throttle travel that far with no increase of engine rpms.

I guess over time I just thought it was something I had to live with. Seeing someone else write it up makes me want it fixed.
not the transmission. It is definately the throttle. I can start off and the transmission shifts very well. Going down the highway, and i want to speed up say from 70 to 80, there is a span of 1.5-2" of pedal travel that there is no throttle, no increase in engine rpms, then by pressing further, the kickdown comes into play.
Since the throttle position sensor is sending a signal to the computer, does it also adjust the throttle blade from the input from the throttle pedal? Is there another sensor between the pedal and the throttle position sensor?
