Default air out equal air in?

08 ram 4.7L quad cab.
I CHANGED MY STOCK MUFFLER TO A SHORTER MAGNAFLOW PERFORMANCE MUFFLER.ALTHOUGH IT SOUNDS GREAT I AM NOTICING SOME INCONSISTENCY IN THE RPMS WHEN I ACCELERATE. ALMOST LIKE IT WINDS UP TO A HIGH RPM THEN DROPS A GEAR. WILL ADDING A COLD AIR INTAKE HAVE ANY EFFECT AND SOLVE THE PROBLEM? DOES AIRFLOW OUT HAVE TO EQUAL AIRFLOW IN? THANKS FOR THE FEEDBACK

No need for CAPS lock and capital letters. Kinda annoying and some guys just won't respond.
The problem is not your muffler., well sorta. It is your MDS that makes the rpms appear to drop and causes a fluttering sound because of the exhaust pulses.
You may have not realized how your transission shifted prior to the muffler change because the stock exhaust is very quiet.

and yes. The amount of air the gets pushed out of your tailpipe is how much ai you have sucked in through your filter; however, your engine only sucks in a cetain amount of air, so dont go spending tons of money on a CAI and expect huge gains. Read a few of Homebrew or homeade intakes so you can save some coin.
An open filter element will be loud but will not have any effect on your rpms and shifting.
