So I ordered an aftermarket smoked third brake light for my 08 Ram. Problem is that it only has two wires coming out of it, and the stock hookup has 4 wires. I assume that the two lights on my new light are just for driving at night and for when I brake. I am trying to figure out that of the 4 wires for the stock light, which two I should use for the new lights to achieve night driving and braking? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I think you mean for the high mounted stop light. That has 4 wires. 2 grounds, 1 for the stop light and 1 for the cargo light.

 

more than likely the grounds are black. from the wiring diagram for the '03, there is a white/tan for the stop and I can't seem to decipher the cargo light (or even find it).

That's not to say that the wire colors for an '08 are even close to the same; sorry, I don't have the '08 wiring diagram.
