Default OBD Tool.

Question for those of you in the know. I know the OBD tool checks for codes on the vehicle. But does it correct fuel efficiencies, like a vehicle running rich, or anything like that?

Thanks.

None that I am aware of. They generally read and clear codes. Superchips and other programmers offer tunes to the computer but as far as I know do not fix things that are wrong.

I have the SuperChips 3865, I have only had it a few weeks but so far like it.I gained about 2 mpg in the gas saver mode. I played with the performance mode and it seemed to make a considerable difference.

I also have an Autel MaxiTrip which is basically a black box for the trucks computer. It stores all kinds of data as well as reading and clearing codes. I am still evaluating it and dont have an opinion yet.

OBDIII reader will only scan for codes.

With an '02 your best bet in a tuner would be a Superchips IMO. A canned performance tune will lean you out a tad because of the advanced timing but to "dial-in" your A/F ratio you'd really need a custom tune or a piggyback controller like a PSC-01 or an ARC1.

But if your a/f ratio is off it's going to in all likelihood be a bad sensor somewhere or poorly planned modification. It's rare to need to "dial in" A/F ratio unless the engine is highly modded...
