need help with electrical issues

Default need help with electrical issues

2003 Ram 1500/3.7 Battery was hooked up backwards. Dead short,smoked the alternator. disconnected alternator, truck turns over but will not start. Where do I start? Thanks

Fuses for sure, especially ones pertaining to PCM. I hate to say this, but the last time I heard of a battery being hooked up backwards, wasn't pretty and fried the computer at least.

I would start by replacing the alternator and verifying that the battery is still good. I'd have the parts store verify the alternator as well before buying another.

Obviously your gonna need to check all the fuses and some of the relays as well.

One thing is for sure, Im sure he knew he goofed when the terminals touched......
