ORIGINAL: Phatboy

I put 315s on a 16x8. Not sure why it would matter too much being a 17. 315-75-16 = 35-12.50.15

That was from GoodYear.

It doesnt matter how tall the rim is....ie: 16/17/18/19/20 +.......but the "width".....

now im mostly used to fitting tires on my sports cars.....whereas the only time I would use a 315 width tire would be on an 11 inch wide rim (I have them on my Z06 on the rear....19x11) but obviously sports cars look for a stretched tire over the rim for handling purposes.

I am also well aware of what you can get away with on different rim widths. I just wasnt sure how "safe" or conventional a small 8 inch wide rim would be with a large 315 wide tire....there would sure be a lot of bulging from the sides. ALOT.

Just go to TireRack.com or NittoTire.com and look at the tire specs. It will tell you the recommended wheel width for the corresponding tire width.
