Recently when I start my 05 ram hemi there is what sounds like a ticking noise coming from the engine and as the truck warms up the ticking gets real faint. What could this be? On my other 05 ram standerd v8 it has started randomly shutting off when im slowing down to make a turn or stoping at a red light, None of my dash lights suggest there is a problem. Any clues?

On your 05, the ticking is what's commonly known as the Hemi Tick. Here is a quote from dirtydog who said it best, "5.7L Hemi tick..."Hemi tick" is a very common problem that breaks all Hemi owners hearts. It's the only flaw of the engine IMO. It's very common and my '08 started at only 400 miles. The dealer will tell you it's an exhaust tick or something else to move you out the door so be prepared for that. I do suggest you have a mechanic or dealer listen to the noise to make sure it's not something else or serious. Just be prepared to hear that the tick is "normal"."

There are lots of threads on this. Some change to synthetic oil and it helps. Some replace the push rods with 6.1 push rods. Some find it to be exhaust leaks caused from loose or broken exh manifold bolts on the manifolds. Thats where I would start first
