Exclamation Leaky Rack Loose return line.

Ok I went outside this morning to move my truck so my aunt could go to church.
2004 Ram 1500, QC, 4x4, SLT, 4.7
Low and behold a nice sized puddle of PS fluid under the drivers side coming from the rack and pinion.
I freaked out!
My truck has 115k on it.
So I got on here and read horror stories about the racks on these trucks.
Well I pulled her into the garage wiped up the area around the boot and on the rack housing.
I then got to looking at the return line at the rack. And sure enough it is the upper hose that is looseI could twist it with my hand. And fluid was leaking from the top line onto the bottom and down the housing.
I went out and purchased a worm gear clamp. And hopefully this will take care of the leak.

Here is my question though.
When I took the cap off of the pump reservoir it had pressure and actually made a pop sound.

I have read that the pressure in the system is what blows the seals on these racks.
So if there is no longer a leak after fixing the hose. Will this in turn blow the seals on the rack?

I read an old post where someone had suggested that I can drill a 1/16 hole down thru the dead center of the refill cap about 1" deep and there are to very small holes at the dipstick that will allow for pressure to escape

Has anyone done this? And if so does it hurt anything to do this?

Sorry for the book. And thanks in advance if I do not get back here in pronto to check replies.

Not sure about drilling the hole but I get the same pop when I open the cap. I also have the same leak on the return line to the cooler. I put a hose clamp on mine the other day but I might go back and cut 1" off of the hose to get a better fit.
