5w 20 oil?

Default 5w 20 oil?

ive read online that u should put 5w 20 oil. i put 5w 20 royal purple with k&n oil filter. i dont know if its the oil or sumthing else. my engine heats up. it goes over the middle line for about a minute and then it goes back down. today i washed off the radiator with a pressure hoes and it keeps doin it. wats wrong with my truck? could it b the oil? fan? or sumthing else?

i seen sum oil filter caps that people put on their engines. is there any for a 5.7 hemi?

I doubt it's the oil. Royal Purple is known to be very good fighting engine heat.

Stuck t'stat, most likely. Mine would stay closed longer and longer. I put in a 180. It's been fine since.

As for the oil, use whatever is on the filler cap or what the O/M says. What is an oil filter cap?

sounds more like you have air in the cooling system. Burp the radiator...

Yeah, oil isnt going to cause heat build up. Youve got coolant circulation issues as said above.

Maybe you are referring to the minute just before your thermostat opens and begins cooling the engine. You may have some air in the radiator, or you just may be noticing the needle bump over the middle line before the thermostat opens. Could be the stock thermostat, but I don't see that as a real problem unless it does it regularly while driving.
