how exactly do i shift?

4 hi is simple, shift in drive.

caint seem to get 4low and N too easy. what gear do i need to be in, do i need to be moving?

dodgeramguy85 02-02-2011 08:24 PM

To get into lo you have to be in N either stopped or moving slowly like 3mph

do you have the switch on the dash?

if so put truck in neutral, foot on the brake, then switch into 4lo

birddseedd 02-02-2011 08:26 PM

should it go into gear as easy as it does with 4hi?

It will be a little more difficult... Do you have a manual lever to shift it... or is it a switch on the dash?
Bring the truck to a full stop, put the transmission into neutral (not drive) . Make sure your foot is on the brake and attempt to get it into neutral. From there go into 4l. IF that doesnt work, i've had good luck with older vehicles putting into neutral, rolling down a hill and hitting the brakes.... then engage the e-brake... usually shifts right in for me after that. IDK Why exactly, maybe something to do with disengaging the transmission? Im not entirely sure.
