Default 06 2500 questions

First off, first time poster and I hope to be around here for a while. Ive had an 87 ram, 97 ram, 05 dakota (didn't like it at all) and now I have my new love a 06 2500 heavy duty 4x4 SLT crew cab with of course a hemi. I've loved Dodge trucks since as far back as I can remember and I'll never own another truck.

I want to get a second set of tires and rims for spring/summer/fall and I'd like to stick with 17" rims like I have on it (as I much prefer smaller rims with more rubber showing). But how far can I go width wise with tires and rims? I'd like to fit 10.5" wide tires on the truck, will stock 8" or 9" width rims? Should I go wider on the rims? Will I be rubbing a lot if I do go with the 10.5" wide tires? Keep in mind this truck sits stock right now and at most I'd put a leveling kit into the truck as I plan to use the truck to haul and have never liked hauling any sort of decent weight around with a lifted truck just for the safety side of things.

My second question works off the first. I know that with 10.5" tires that they will stick out and since I live in Maine the cops have a real hardon about tires sticking out from the fenders. Thus I would at some point need to get some fender flares. Anyone really found a brand/style that really works for my type of truck or are the fairly universal in nature?

You can go as wide as about 12.5" but it will depend on the backspacing of the rims. I have 325/45/24s and I am barely sticking out of the fender but are about 1/4" away from the spindle.

Well that puts me more at ease knowing I can go that big and stay under the fender. Thanks!
