Default Rear wheel-well liners...

UPS and FedEx have made 6 deliveries in the last two days. Ram parts (no pun intended) are piling up everywhere. Got to get done painting the garage (house is done) so that I have the time to deal with the new truck. Still more stuff on order...

Anyway, here are a couple pix of the rear wheel-well liners. All trucks should all come with these! Since they only take a few minutes a piece to install, we went ahead and put them on to get them out of the way. They are listed as a "kit" and really are since they come with all fasteners and instructions. We got them delivered from Ed Moses Dodge in AZ (moparpartscenter.com) for $87.

I've a Peragon bed cover and a Prodigy brake controller and who knows what else in my way. Got all the emblems off except for the Hemi ones that I'll leave, a Gibson stainless exhaust tip, reversed the sunvisors to hide the warning label, painted the chrome Ram emblem on the steering wheel (the only chrome in the interior) and assorted other stuff, like derust and paint the ugly drive-shaft. Got to get things done soon since we've got to pick up an aluminum car-hauler in Bowling Green, KY next month.

If I can ever get done painting I may be dangerous! Here's the fender-liners and I'll quit rambling.

I never could figure out why they stopped putting them in. I put mine in about a month after we got the truck. I really like my Peragon cover too.

I was surprised that new trucks don't have these and I added a set to my 05 less then a week after I bought it.

I also got the molded mud flaps and I think I might do the fender flares if I can make them work with the flaps.

How easy was that PERAGON cover to put in and have you done a leak test? I plan on ordering the liners as well and probably from Ed's.
Thanks in advance
Mike

PS: I think maybe one of the reasons they no longer put the factory liners in is because its quite possible some of the rust formed on the lips of the panels was because the liners were trapping grit and salt grinding the paint off and causing corrosion. The quickest fix was to take them entirely out I guess?!

The cover was pretty easy to put on, but you'll need an extra set of hands to put it on the truck and get it tightened down. It does allow some water to enter the bed, through the tracks, but it's not bad. The best thing about the cover is the weight which is around 80#, it locks, it folds outta the way.

BlackAcid: You are welcome. Glad you like the emblem. I took off the wheels to install the liners because it seemed like it would be the easiest way. I'm too old to wrestle with my vehcles if I don't have to.

Regarding the Peragon, it appears from the instructions that installation is simplest for the new Rams since several instruction-sheet steps are omitted. I have the OEM under-the-rail bed-liner and it appears to need quite a bit of trimming to get the bolt-on Peragon brackets to fit correctly. It may also be necessary to remove the front top lip of the liner, though Peragon says on their website such is okay. Perhaps for a Ford or some other liner that fits tighter to the front rail. I'm pretty disappointed with the sloppy fit of the OEM liner and am particularily glad it was thrown in gratis since it was already there.

The garage is about painted so next week I'll start doing some other things with the truck, i.e., put on the Peragon, do something with the stock wheels (too much hassle to install Moon discs right now--need welded-on Dzus fastener brackets and the wheels rebalanced to remove the outside weights), and install the Prodigy brake controller--just haven't spent enough time under the dash to decide where (maybe in the cubby-hole if practical to run the wires in the left side). When I get a little more done I'll post some pix.

All the best.
