whine from rear end ONLY when turning
i got a 02 Ram 1500 quad cab 4WD and when ever the steering wheel is not straight meaning turning no matter how far even a little the rear end whines and kinda shutters. was going to replace the ring and pinion but wanted some input before i spent themoney on it incase it is not theproblem. any ideas?
I'd pop the diff cover off and inspect it first. Could be the dreaded "C-Clip" issue, could simply be time for a fluid change or you may need to add a bit of friction modifier. Hell it may not even be in the diff and be a wheel bearing.
No way of knowing without taking a look.

Turning generally means carrier related issue's.
This includes:
worn carrier sidecase bearings
Worn spider gears
Worn clutch plates
improper case preload
Generally NOT your ring or pinion. The shuttering you have is most likely worn LSD friction discs. or not enough or any at all friction modifier.
