03 Ram throwing P2106,P2108 DTCs
My buddy's 03 Ram is throwing DTCs P2106 and P2108. He limped his truck to work today and we don't know anyone that is open mechanic shopwise. Does anyone know what to do to possibly take care of this without having to go to a mechanic? I know that the codes are for the throttle actuator, but just looking for some insight for my buddy so maybe I can help him get on his way at the end of the day without having to call a tow truck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Weedahoe feel free to give me an awesome photo in depth response
We got those codes on a buddy truck a few weeks back but it was because one of his valves wasnt closing all the way and the piston was pushing air back up through the intake and against the TB plate. So i would start by doing a compression check on each cylinder.
If you dont have a compression tester or the money to get one (dont cost that much though) then pull the valve covers and make sure each valve moves up and down. Either turn the engine over with the starter or with a 21mm socket on the crank bolt.
2003's are bad about breaking valve springs and its possible he could have broken on and the valve either dropped a little and cant close or bent the valve and wont close.
Either way, please LMK.
