Default Running straights thru factory Resonator

Lot of people on DT.com are claiming that you will pick up 2MPG and a little power from taking off the factory muffler and running straights thru the resonator. I am curious if anyone here has done this, and how it sounds if you have. I can't imagine it being a nice sound, or legal, but who knows. Also, to any who have done this, did you notice a change in your MPG or power?

I don't know about the quality, but the it would probably be loud considering the resonator is straight through. I recently switched the stock muffler and tailpipe out for an aftermarket and turndowns. It seems stronger and the mileage has increased a bit.
